MK Dons Ladies welcome attacking midfielder Dawn Mallett to their squad, she brings a wealth of experience to the side ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The 26-year-old is the Dons’ first signing of the summer, and has previously played for a host of clubs such as WSL 2 sides London Bees, Watford Ladies and Millwall Lionesses. Mallett joins the Dons from Cambridge United Women, where she featured 19 times for them last season, scoring seven goals.

Speaking about the move, Mallett expressed how excited she was about this positive move in her career.

She said: “Moving to MK Dons is a real refreshing opportunity for me, I have had plenty of time to reflect on decisions regarding my future plans.

“But to finally put pen to paper to a promising club is definitely another positive and exciting move for me.”

Mallett continued, reflecting on what she brings to the team, and what her goals are now that she is officially at the Dons.

She stated: “Experience is important in this type of league, hopefully I can contribute with a positive attitude and winning mentality.

“I want to ensure my performances are consistent and I aim to make an impact on what hopes to be a successful season for the team.

“As a team, we want to aim high, compete at the top and ultimately end the season achieving the goal of winning the league.”

James Honeyman is delighted to welcome Mallett to the club after the Dons got the player they wanted.

Honeyman said: “I’m very pleased to be able to bring Dawn to the club, as soon as we knew she would be available this summer, we put her right at the top of our wish list.

“Dawn has bags of ability and she has proved it at the highest level.

“We know we have someone who we can rely on to give us consistent quality week in week out, as well as chipping in with her fair share of goals.”

Honeyman is hoping Mallett is the first of a few signings that will be arriving ahead of the 2017/18 season, as the Dons aim to go one better after finishing runners-up in the South East Division 1 last season.

He said: “Players like this are a real statement of intent, and shows the high calibre of player we can attract here.

“Hopefully Dawn is the first of a few new faces.”
