The GET SET for Legacy draws on the inspiration of hosting major sporting events in Milton Keynes (Rugby World Cup 2105 pool matches, National Badminton Championships and the Women's FA Cup final). These events will act as a catalyst to engage participants in rugby, football and badminton and form a sporting habit for life.
This Legacy is set to help more local people get into sports thanks to National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund, the National Hockey Foundation and Milton Keynes Council.
Primary School Delivery:
Funded by the National Hockey Foundation, this project works with selected primary schools by hosting a CPD session to up skill teachers in TAG rugby, and will then go onto mentor them in a six-week delivery of TAG leading into a festival in the new year.
Secondary School Delivery:
This project looks to support secondary schools across Milton Keynes with Rugby delivery in their curriculum and extra curriculum lessons. Working alongside teaching staff and in collaboration with England Rugby, we will look to mentor and support them with the introduction to rugby and introduction to contact, and how to go about that in the correct and safe way. We will also support with fixtures and tournaments, hosted alongside the MK schools leagues.
